The Boyd Baker House was commissioned by mathematician Michael Baker and built in 1966 by one of Australia's most highly regarded architects, Robin Boyd. The property features iconic mid-century collectibles in every room - including designs by Australian designer Grant Featherstone, as well as Hans Wegner, Arne Jacobsen and Eames, to name but a few - and the striking colourways all combine to create an attention-grabbing space.
Such a cool house. Although, in these shots it looks more like a furniture museum than the ground breaking piece of architecture that it was. Would be terrific fun to stay there for a weekend though, to fully appreciate it.
ReplyDeleteBlue Fruit: Agreed. And if you stayed for a week you could start to wear the furniture in - the chairs in the last two pics look as though they've been delivered from the showroom just in time for the photo shoot!

ReplyDeleteThe room in the last picture is so elegant. The chairs and the wall together contrast with the flooring in consonance with the entire feel. More like in a design museuem.
