I spotted these images a while back of a loft apartment and studio somewhere in Berlin and was quite taken with the high ceilings and abundance of natural light flooding in through those enormous windows. And then there's the furniture - it's always about the furniture. The Egg chair by Arne Jacobsen always gets a big thumbs up from me, and its curves are a pleasing contrast to the almost saggy lines of the 'Mags Soft' sofa by HAY which, incidentally, is just screaming to be lounged/jumped on big time. And what the sofa lacks in structured angles is more than made up for by the silhouettes of Poul Kjærholm's PK22 easy chairs.
Add to that the parquet flooring, whitewashed brickwork, moody kitchen and the gold racing bike, and yes, I could quite easily move in … on a fully-furnished bases, obvs.
Great shop, great post, Hay indeed is a phenomenon. Although the quality of their stuff quite varies it is stylish and generally well made. I personlly own a Hay Mags sofa and would buy it again. But when it comes to welded items like the loop table (which I also own, be careful, because the welding is very rough and not very neat – that stuff is probably made in China...
